(Greenfield, MA) The Greenfield Department of Public Works has announced leaf disposal options for residents this fall. Leaves left on the tree belt or in the street violates the city’s bylaws and may plug the storm drains causing drainage issues.
The Greenfield Transfer Station accepts leaves free of cost. Leaves must be loose, in paper compostable bags or emptied out of plastic bags at the station. Another option is to compost leaves in your backyard. The transfer station is selling compost bins for $25.
Residents can also schedule leaf pick up appointments on Fridays between November 4th and December 2nd for a $10 prepaid fee by calling 772-1528. Leaves must be in compostable 30-gallon paper bags and up to twenty bags may be collected.
