(Greenfield, MA) Greenfield City lawyers have filed an appeal against the judge’s denial for a new trial in the case of Greenfield and Police Chief Robert Haigh v. former officer Patrick Buchanan and Lieutenant Todd Dodge. On September 29th, judge Mark Mason issued a memorandum stating there was “no miscarriage of justice” in the trial and the jury’s verdict in May. The City’s appeal was filed Thursday and seeks to appeal more than the jury’s verdict. It also seeks to appeal the awards for Buchanan’s legal fees, the denial to obtain the recording of the Void Dire of Chief Haigh and Lt. Dodge, and other decisions made in the case. Now, both legal teams will have to write a statement on the trial, then there will be a hearing, and then up to six months for a decision on whether or not this will go to Appeals Court.
