(Orange, MA) According to unofficial election results for the town of Orange, residents have voted against funding renovations for the Wheeler Memorial Library. The results were close though with a 58 vote margin. The project was estimated to cost nearly $10 million and the town had applied for a $5 million state grant from the Massachusetts Board of Library Commissioners that will expire in January without the matching town funds. This isn’t the end for the project as the Library Building Committee will be meeting to discuss other options such as filing for a grant extension, seeking ARPA funding, and other possible avenues.
