(Orange, MA) The Town of Orange will have a Special Town Meeting Thursday, December 8th at 7 p.m. in the Orange Town Hall at 8 Prospect Street. Residents will have the opportunity to vote on nineteen different articles.
The agenda begins with several requests to settle bills from the prior year. The town is also seeking approval to transfer $9,000 from the Airport’s Master Plan Update Project account to pay the town’s share of the $166,667 federal and state grant for the airport project.
The Police Department is seeking $26,000 for the remaining costs of replacing an unrepairable cruiser. The Fire Department needs approval to replace the boiler at the headquarters, an approximately $45,000 cost.
Residents will vote on a zoning moratorium lasting through 2023 on stand-alone large-scale batteries for energy storage in order to analyze the impacts of such a system. The Planning Board has also proposed an amendment to the town’s zoning bylaw regarding outdoor marijuana cultivation in order to clarify the regulations, including defining a hoop structure as outdoor cultivation.
