(Greenfield, MA) Many teachers came to Wednesday’s City Council meeting, passionately arguing for funding for so they could secure contracts with competitive wages.
The Greenfield City Council had a financial order on the table to appropriate $100,000 from Free Cash to Contact Stabilization at Wednesday’s meeting and they voted in favor of appropriating those funds. They also took further action to support the teachers’ effort to secure fair contracts.
In the final minutes of the meeting, Councilor Jasper Lapienski asked that “City Council adopt a resolution to urge the mayor to allocate an additional $300,000 from Free Cash to Contract Stabilization.” The motion was passed unanimously by the council.
