(Greenfield, MA) Greenfield Mayor Roxann Wedegartner left the Human Rights Commission Chair Daniel Cantor Yalowitz out of her appointments and reappointments in December. Yalowitz’s term is set to expire at the end of this month.
The Mayor cited reasons for not reappointing Yalowitz such as the six resignations from the Commission that happened while Yalowitz was Chair and complications working with the Mayor’s office.
Wid Perry, another Human Rights Commissioner, was reappointed to the Commission at last week’s City Council meeting. However it wasn’t until after the council meeting that the Mayor notified Yalowitz he would not be reappointed and consequently, Perry made a statement supporting Yalowitz’s leadership and said that he would be resigning.
