(Franklin County, MA) Franklin-Hampshire Court Appointed Special Advocate, or CASA, has been awarded a $31,000 grant from the national CASA organization. The funding will help support the training and retaining of CASA volunteers who advocate for children in the court system who have experienced abuse or neglect.
Debi Belkin, the Director of Programs at Friends of Children said “This funding will allow us to continue providing integral support for the children in our CASA program and to continue to bring quality-level training to our current and future volunteers.”
CASA is one of the programs run by Friends of Children to support children in foster care or involved with the juvenile-justice system. Nationwide, there are over 900 National Court Appointed Special Advocate/Guardian Ad Litem Assoc. for Children programs running on the state and local levels.
