(Charlemont, MA) The Town of Charlemont held a special election Tuesday, January 10th for two Select Board seats. Jared Bellows won a seat on the select board for the next one and a half years. Bellows received 157 votes and a write-in candidate Elizabeth Van Inderstine received ten votes.

The second seat on the select board was won by William Harker. Harker ran against Robert Handsaker who received 85 votes to Harker’s 91. Harker will serve for a short term of five months.

The Town of Charlemont is holding a special election on Tuesday, January 10th. Charlemont residents will be voting on two select board seats.

Jared Bellows is running uncontested for a select board term length of one and a half years. Robert Handsaker and William Harker are running for a short term seat of five months. A “Meet the Candidates” event will be held tonight, January 4th, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Hawlemont School. 

Select Board Chair, Dan Girard’s term was set to end in 2024, but he resigned from his role effective at the end of December due to moving his residence. Valentine Reid was elected to be the new chair.
