(Greenfield, MA) The results of the downtown Greenfield parking study are in. The City hired a consultant team from Stantec with a budget of $25,000 from a Mass Downtown Initiative grant to analyze the current parking downtown, in order to understand the needs and use of parking as the City prepares for a nearly $8 million Main Street Redesign project. There will be a presentation on the results of the parking study at the John Zon Community Center on Monday, June 12th from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.
This study is a product of months of work including collaborations between Greenfield Mayor Roxann Wedegartner, City department heads, and the Stantec consulting team that began in December 2022 and a public workshop in January 2023 to launch the study.

01/24/2023 The City of greenfield will be hosting a parking management workshop next Tuesday, January 31st at 5:30 p.m. in the John Zon Community Center at 35 Pleasant Street. As parking frequently fuels civic debate, the workshop will assess downtown parking resources and develop a proposal for changes to parking utilization for on-street parking, municipal lots, and the Olive Street Garage.
“There’s no doubt that parking is a hot-button issue in Greenfield, as it is in many communities,” said Community and Economic Development Director MJ Adams. “Given that there are currently many moving parts and changes coming to Main Street, we hope to develop a cohesive strategy to manage our parking assets, based on best practices and feedback from residents and the business community.”
There will be “discussion about locations where there is a mismatch between parking supply and demand, and an opportunity for members of the community to have their questions answered.”
The workshop is part of the parking management study, funded by a $25,000 award from the Massachusetts Downtown Initiative to use for consultant services.
