(Franklin County, MA) The Springfield Materials Recycling Facility Advisory Board released four short videos on household recycling showing what happens to the materials once they’ are recycled. The videos are on Container Recycling, Paper and Cardboard Recycling, What Happens To Recycled Materials and Recycling Most Unwanted.
The videos give a behind-the-scenes look at environmental and economic values of recycling. The Springfield Recycling Facility processes over 18,300 tons of material from 65 western Massachusetts communities every year. In fiscal year 2022, through the sales of recyclables to commodity markets, the Springfield MRF paid its 65 member communities a combined revenue share of $375,500.
