(Greenfield, MA) Greenfield High School was temporarily under a “shelter in place” order Tuesday morning while Greenfield Police Department investigated a “swatting” call.

This type of “swatting” call is a false threat that may be made using the internet to deceive emergency responders. Many schools across Massachusetts have received similar calls this week.

Greenfield Superintendent Christine DeBarge confirmed the school received a hoax threat and said, “We utilized our safety and security protocols while Greenfield Police investigated.”

Families received notice that “all are safe” around 11:50 a.m.
