(Greenfield, MA) Two teachers from the Greenfield Public Schools have been honored in the Harold Grinspoon Foundation’s Pioneer Valley Excellence in Teaching Awards this year. Deborah Richardson, a kindergarten teacher from Federal Street School, and Shannon Eaton from Greenfield Middle School were awarded for going above and beyond in the classroom.
The award announcement came at a recent School Committee Meeting. Colleagues nominate each other and one of Richardson’s nominations read in part; “You don’t come across a teacher so talented and inspiring as Deb very often.” In a nomination for Eaton, a colleague said, “a true gem in Greenfield Middle School, she creates a safe, positive, supportive classroom environment.”
Both winners received multiple nominations for this award and will be celebrated with other teachers who have won this award in a banquet later this spring.
