(Boston, MA) In conjunction with the Massachusetts Devision of Banks, or DOB, the Baker-Polito administration announced relief options on Tuesday, with 15 private student loan services. These 15 private student loan services have expanded on the protections granted by the federal government. A total of 182,000 Massachusetts borrowers stand to benefit from this new initiative. Borrowers must contact their student loan services to learn about what relief is available. Relief options could include a minimum of 90 days forbearance, waiving late payment fees, no negative credit reporting, ceasing debt collection lawsuits for 90 days, and other borrower assistance programs such as income based repayment plans.
