(Greenfield, MA) On the agenda for Wednesday’s Greenfield School Committee meeting was a vote on the Reenvisioning Our School Facilities plan. After discussion and hearing from the community during the public comment portion of the meeting, the committee ultimately decided to not vote on moving forward with any option.
Instead, the subcommittee is being charged with continuing their discussion on the options for reconfiguring the elementary and middle schools, creating a timeline for doing forward and instituting a plan, and getting further feedback particularly from teachers.
During public comment, teachers and parents spoke out against Option 1 (of four options presented to the district) which includes aligning grade levels with buildings, so all Greenfield students at each grade level will be grouped together in a building:
- Preschool at Academy of Early Learning
- Grades K-1, 2-3, and 4-5 at 3 elementary schools
- Grades 6-8 at Greenfield Middle School
- Grades 9-12 at Greenfield High School
