(Greenfield, MA) With COVID-19 case numbers declining and the community vaccination rate high, GCC has decided to end its COVID-19 vaccination requirement after the spring semester.

GCC had instituted its vaccination requirement in January 2022 when Greenfield saw over 1,400 confirmed cases in the month. This year, February’s COVID-19 rate was down almost 70% from the previous year and March is showing a similar decline with only eleven reported cases in Greenfield so far.

“After serious considerations about the health and safety of our students, staff, and faculty, as well as considering how to best serve our entire community with affordable, high-quality education, the Massachusetts Association of Community Colleges determined that ending the COVID vaccine requirement on campuses in time for commencements was the right step,” GCC Pres. Michelle Schutt said.
