(Franklin County, MA) The towns of Colrain and Hawley have declared States of Emergency following the winter storm that brought as much as three feet of snow to some areas, leaving hundreds who are still without power. The declaration of an emergency allows towns to bring in additional resources and issue orders to protect lives and property.

Hawley’s State of Emergency is set to last until March 22nd at 12 p.m. The decision to make the declaration was made due to widespread power outages, roads blocked, and the failure of communications infrastructure.

Colrain’s State of Emergency went into effect at 12 a.m. on March 14th and will last until further notice.

There is ongoing work happening across the county by town departments and other agencies to clear roadways and restore power to residents.
