(Franklin County, MA) The case against Jeffrey Cancel-Muniz, a former Massachusetts State Police Most Wanted Fugitive, was dropped on Monday. Cancel-Muniz was facing charges in relation to an alleged sexual assault that took place in May 2020, including strangulation or suffocation, kidnapping, rape and aggravated rape at the Franklin County Superior Court.
On Monday, the state dropped the case to save the alleged victim from the trauma of taking the witness stand. Cancel-Muniz has been released on the condition that he has no contact with and remains 100 yards away from the alleged victim.
