(Northfield, MA) Last night, Northfield residents rejected a proposal to construct a new building to house the police, fire, and EMS departments. 248 people attended at Pioneer Valley Regional School to hear the plan to build a new 18,200 square foot facility at 121 Main Street at a cost of $13.5 million.
The vote was 191 in favor of the project, 157 not in favor, but a 2/3’s majority was needed for it pass. A new emergency services building has been a topic of discussion for years in Northfield as currently the police, fire and EMS are all housed in separate, aging buildings.
