(Shelburne Falls, MA) The Bridge of Flowers reconstruction project is slated to take place in 2024 and will not be open to the public until the anticipated reopening in 2025, although the exact details of scheduling are still being finalized. The owner of the bridge, the Shelburne Falls Fire District, is utilizing a $2.28 million state infrastructure grant to extend the life of the bridge and strengthen the public water system, as the bridge carries the only water main that provides potable water to Buckland residents. While the bridge is closed for repairs, everything will be removed from the plantings to fencing and more, providing opportunity to make improvements to the pathway and other features. The Bridge of Flowers in Shelburne Falls will be closed for the 2024 year to undergo repairs. It will remain open through this season and close in October 2023. When it reopens in the spring of 2025, there will be new railings, a new pathway, and new plantings to join some of the current ones. There will also be repairs made to the infrastructure and a new water main. This reconstruction project has been in the works for a few years now between the Bridge of Flowers Committee and the Shelburne Falls Fire District who owns the bridge.
