(Northfield, MA) The Northfield Selectboard voted to euthanize a resident’s pit bull/terrier mix after the dog had reportedly attacked their owner’s mother when she opened the dog’s food container. The dog reportedly bit her arm and chest, and she was eventually able to call 911 and was transported to the hospital. As a rescue dog, Rio has shown food aggression in the past and the select board determined humane euthanization was the best course of action.
