(Holyoke, MA) Update: Greenfield resident Michael Williams pleaded not guilty on Wednesday to the charges related to the alleged dragging of a State Trooper and ensuing pursuit last Friday. Williams arraignment had been delayed twice due to his hospitalization after he swallowed what is described as a bundle of heroin in court documents. The judge set Williams bail at $100,000 cash. He is expected to appear in court again on October 18th.

Update: The arraignment for Michael Williams who allegedly dragged a State Trooper following an attempted traffic stop on I-91 in Holyoke, has been delayed again. The arraignment is now expected for today. Williams has previous charges including operating under the influence in March and assault and battery on an officer in 2012 and again in 2020. HE is currently facing 8 charges including leaving the scene of a crash that caused personal injury and assault and battery with a dangerous weapon.

Williams fled after a Trooper attempted to stop him on traffic violations on I-91 north, Williams later crashed and fled the scene by foot. He was taken into custody on 8 charges. The arraignment is now expected to take place today.

A Greenfield man will be arraigned in Northampton District Court today after being arrested Friday evening on eight charges following a police pursuit by vehicle and on foot in the Holyoke area. A State Trooper had attempted to stop a 2007 Chevy Malibu on I-91 northbound in Holyoke for motor vehicle violations when the suspect took off, dragging the Trooper for a short distance. The vehicle was pursued, eventually crashed and the suspect fled on foot and was located at 5:35 p.m. by a K9 unit. Michael Williams, 45, of Greenfield is being held without bail for a violation of his probation.
