(Colrain, MA) On Saturday, December 2nd, Massachusetts State Police notified the Massachusetts Environmental Police of a witness to an illegal deer hunting incident. The witness claimed to see an occupant of a vehicle shot a deer that was on the front lawn of a home from the road. State police were able to stop the vehicle and found two individuals in camflouage with firearms visible in the backseat, recognizing them as having had past hunting violations.
According to the Massachusetts Environmental Police, the individuals were arrested and an inventory of the vehicle revealed four muzzle loaders, two shotguns, two rifles, a pistol, over 300 rounds of ammunition, four thermal scopes, and a grey fox killed earlier that morning.
The individuals were arraigned at the Greenfield District Court for charges of hunting from a motor vehicle, discharge of firearm within 150 feet of a roadway, loaded rifle in a motor vehicle, hunting deer after hours, and hunting fox outside of fox hunting season.
