(Leverett, MA) The historic North Leverett Sawmill is getting closer to its development into a community park with the help of a $20,000 donation from the Greenfield Cooperative Bank. The Sawmill provided timber for over two hundred years before fully closely in the 1990s and the Friends of the Leverett Sawmill nonprofit was started to protect the mill and pond by making the area part of a trail system.

The town is actively seeking more grants to aid in the project as well as town residents voting in favor of spending $82,082 in Community Preservation Act funds earlier this year.
