(Orange, MA) Update: The Orange Fire Department has provided an update on the three-alarm fire that occurred Monday at 15 Jones Street in Orange. The department responded to the residence just after 4 p.m. and were notified of several dogs still inside the three story building, although all the occupants had made it outside. Firefighters found two dogs and removed them safely after searching through heavy smoke. Two other dogs unfortunately did not make it through the fire alive.

After extinguishing the visible fire, crews worked to uncover the fire as it spread through the walls, eventually containing the fire. One occupant of the building was transported to the Athol Hospital with non-life threatening injuries. One firefighter was evaluated by EMS on scene, but was not brought to the hospital. The fire remains under investigation by the Orange Fire Department and the Massachusetts Department of Fire Services, Fire Investigation Unit.

Two families have been displaced after a three-alarm structure fire at 15 Jones Street in Orange occurred late afternoon on Monday. The fire left one resident with injuries treated at a local hospital, as well as claiming the life of two dogs. The Orange Fire Department is investigating the fire and an update is expected today. Donations for the families are coming together through community support, including baby items, clothing, and monetary donations.
