(Western MA) New technology from Eversource is expected to cut down restoration times in the event of a downed or damaged utility pole. Rapid Pole has been in the works for over two years. It allows Eversource to feed high-voltage power into the system quickly, cutting restoration times down from several hours in some cases, to as little as fifteen minutes. The Rapid Pole technology has been introduced to western Massachusetts in the past month, having already been in use in New Hampshire for over a year and plans to continue expanding use throughout the service region.
