(Deerfield, MA) The Deerfield Selectboard held an information session Tuesday to share a presentation on the borrowing the town is asking voters to approve in the Special Election on Tuesday, January 16th. A previous election in December resulted in a rejection of the borrowing by four votes with a voter turnout of less than 10%, after getting approval from voters in the Town Meeting. So far, $2 million in repairs that have been completed after July’s rain and flooding. Voter approval is needed for the Proposition 2 1/2 debt-exclusion to pay for these repairs up to $5 million, although total emergency repairs is expected to be closer to $3 million.
