(Greenfield, MA) Schuyler Gibson from Brattleboro, Vermont has pleaded guilty to over 20 charges in a string of car and house break-ins that took place in Bernardston and Northfield this past September. Gibson was sentenced to five years in jail by Greenfield District Court Judge William Mazanec III on January 5th.

A Vermont man responsible for car and housebreaks in Bernardston and Northfield in September was sentenced to 5 years in jail after pleading guilty to criminal charges involving 11 victims.
Schuyler D. Gibson, 40, of Brattleboro, Vermont, pleaded guilty to more than 20 charges, including 7 counts of breaking and entering into a motor vehicle, 4 counts of larceny under $1,200 and larceny with a credit card. The charges stemmed from a housebreak in Bernardston on Sept 24, followed by 7 motor vehicle breaks in Northfield on Sept. 25.
Greenfield District Court Judge William F. Mazanec III on Jan. 5 imposed the sentence of 2.5 years in the House of Correction on some charges, with an additional 2.5 years on other charges, with the sentences to be served consecutively.
The cases were investigated by the Bernardston and Northfield Police Departments, in cooperation with the Brattleboro, VT police department and Vermont State Police, and were prosecuted by Assistant Northwestern District Attorney Nicholas Atallah. Defense attorney Daniel Solomon represented Gibson.
Police managed to recover and return some of the victims’ belongings.
Criminal charges are based on probable cause to believe a person has committed a crime. All defendants are presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
