(Greenfield, MA) New details have emerged regarding the small plane crash on January 14th near the Greenfield-Leyden townline that resulted in the fatalities of the flight instructor, commercial pilot, and the passenger. The plane was airborne for 19 minutes, when witnesses stated they heard the engine make strange sounds as it fluctuated and saw the airplane ‘corkscrew’ while making a ‘straight line’ toward the ground. At the time of the crash there were alerts for moderate icing conditions and occasional severe turbulence due to strong low-level winds, according to the aviation investigation preliminary report.
