(Northfield, MA) This past July the Pioneer Valley Regional School District School Committee voted unanimously to end the school resource officer position, now the Northfield Selectboard is discussing bringing the position back. So far this school year there have been approximately eleven considerable calls to the schools and a school shooting threat at the Northfield elementary school. School Committee Chair Reina Dastous indicated that the committee would be open to discussing bringing the officer back, although guidance counselors spoke before their July vote saying they wanted to focus on the district’s restorative justice program.
