NORTHFIELD, MA (FRANKLIN COUNTY NOW) — The Northfield Selectboard met Tuesday evening and discussed the board’s intention to file a motion to intervene in the FirstLight license renewal with the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC). Intervener status will give the town legal standing and an opportunity to talk with the Commission about Firstlight’s license in a manner that carries more weight than the general online comments.
FirstLight has submitted their 50 year license renewal application for their hydroelectric dam in Turners Falls and the pump storage facility in Northfield. The public comment period has begun, wherein residents can submit comments from now through April 22nd.
