ORANGE, MA (FRANKLIN COUNTY NOW) — Multiple crews worked together to get a brush fire under control on Route 2A/West Orange Road in Orange Saturday. The fire was caused by downed wires, leaving a large portion of the town without power and the roadway closed between Route 78 and the wastewater treatment plant temporarily.

When crews arrived on scene, they found residents working to keep the fire back with buckets of water. The Orange Fire Department  were able to contain the fire before it could approach a nearby residence, while Erving’s District 9 Forest Fire Control worked to keep the wind driven fire from spreading in the other direction.
