GREENFIELD, MA (FRANKLIN COUNTY NOW) — Greenfield students being bused from Greenfield Gardens, Leyden Woods, and Oak Courts will be able to continue receiving transportation services thanks to a vote from the Greenfield School Committee Wednesday that aligned their practice with policy and law. Previously, the policy allowed elementary students in Kindergarten through Grade 4 to be bused if they lived more than one and a half miles away from their school. Now, the policy has changed to one mile.

When the question of changing the policy for busing high schoolers came up, Superintendent Christine DeBarge said it would be too expensive to came the high school busing policy from students outside of a 2.5 mile radius to 1 mile, as it could require up to three additional buses.
