COLRAIN, MA (FRANKLIN COUNTY NOW) — In Colrain’s Community Solar Survey, 100 respondents shared they are generally in support of solar development. 98% indicated they are concerned about climate change and 90% showed a positive attitude towards solar development. Residential solar has been a popular choice in town of late as electricity bills rise, making a solar payment less expensive and offering tax credits for renewable energy. But in order to generate enough power for the whole town, solar development would have to increase by fifteen times.
On April 27th at 5 p.m. in the Colrain Central School, Zara Dowling from UMAss will join the Colrain Energy Committee for a public meeting on solar options in town. The meeting will also be accessible by Zoom.
