ATHOL, MA (FRANKLIN COUNTY NOW) — A first alarm fire broke out at a home on Doe Valley Road in Athol Wednesday night. Reports came in just after 11 p.m. of smoke in a residence with a possible basement fire, according to the Athol Fire Department. Upon arrival, crews found the house to be filled with smoke, causing them to issue a first alarm for mutual aid.
Firefighters from Phillipston, Orange, Templton, Barre, and the Woods ambulance responded to the scene. They worked to access the basement and extinguish the fire before it could reach the rest of the house.
