GREENFIELD, MA (FRANKLIN COUNTY NOW) — An investigation is underway pertaining to an alleged assault on an elderly woman Tuesday night in downtown Greenfield.
Greenfield Police said the woman on the common when the assault allegedly occurred at approximately 5:19 pm. According to the police report, an 82-year-old Charlemont woman was participating in a pro-Israel gathering when she was approached by another woman who told the elderly woman that the pro-Israel group was “genocidal”. The alleged attacker then reportedly slapped the woman, causing her to fall and injure an elbow and knee.
Greenfield Police say they are investigating the case as a possible hate crime.
