$30 million in state budget to make bus fares free for good

FRANKLIN COUNTY, MA (FRANKLIN COUNTY NOW) — $30 million has been set aside of the 2025 state budget for the elimination of fares in regional transit services, paving a pathway for making fare-free bus rides permanent.

FRTA and PVTA are both offering free rides currently through different programs and have seen increased efficiency and ridership since their implementation.
