GREENFIELD, MA (FRANKLIN COUNTY NOW) — Greenfield resident Chuck Green, a member of the Board of Assessors, is proposing a city ordinance amendment to allow permanent residence in campers and trailers on private land with permission of landowners. The Economic Development Committee will hear the proposal on Tuesday, September 10th.

The proposal comes as a response to the housing crisis according to Green who believes the amendment could potentially reduce rental prices by removing some of the demand for rental units.

Concerns around permanent living for trailers and campers include health regulations, aesthetics of increased campers and trailers, which Green believes come from stigma around the idea of living in campers and trailers.
