GREENFIELD, MA (FRANKLIN COUNTY NOW) — The local high school football season is underway, as two area teams had season-opening games on Friday night.

The Mahar Senators turned in a dominant performance on both sides of the ball, cruising to a 44-0 victory over Drury High School in Orange. The Senators rode a big-play offense and lock-down defense in the victory.

Quarterback Morgan Softic hit Jayden Delago in stride along the right sideline for an 85-yard touchdown pass, Softic himself turned in an electrifying 84-yard TD run, and Malaki Grummell scored on a 55-yard run.

The Frontier Redhawks fell at home on Friday night to Lunenburg, 18-0. Frontier performed well defensively for most of the night, but could not get on track offensively. The Redhawks amassed only 34 yards in total offense.
