GREENFIELD, MA (FRANKLIN COUNTY NOW) — After Greenfield City Councilor-At-Large Penny Ricketts’ resignation, four applicants are interested in filling the councilor-at-large role.

Mpress Bennu, chair of the Human Rights Commission, among her many community positions, is one of the candidates. Along with Sara Brown, co-founder and president of the Valley Housing Co-op; Stephanie Gale, who has worked with the United Way of Franklin & Hampshire counties; and Thomas Bledsoe worked in housing organizations until his retirement in 2022. 

The four candidates are invited to the City Council Committee Chairs meeting on October 1st at 6 p.m. to make a statement and answer questions from councilors.

The candidate appointed to the role by Council President John Bottomley and subject to a 2/3 majority vote of councilors present, will serve until the city election in November 2025.
