BOSTON, MA (FRANKLIN COUNTY NOW) — A group opposing the new gun law called The Civil Rights Coalition is has gotten over 75,000 certified signatures on their petition with over 15,000 signatures left to process as of October 10th.

This number of signatures is well beyond the required 37,287 signatures to get the repeal question on a ballot, and is even above the 49,716 required for pausing implementation of the law until the question could come before voters, however Governor Healey signed the emergency preamble to supersede the implementation pause and bring the law into immediate effect.

The signatures must be submitted to the Secretary of State by October 23rd for review, which is unlikely to take place until after the November election.
