GREENFIELD, MA (FRANKLIN COUNTY NOW) — Organizations in Greenfield have been awarded a total of $6,664,000 in funding through the FY25 Community One Stop for Growth program, most of which will be going towards the housing project in the former Wilson’s building.
There will be 61 units of energy-efficient apartments for low to moderate-income households in the upper three floors of the department building. MassWorks Infrastructure Program received $2.65 million for the project and The Community Builders received a combined $3.612 million for site readiness and structural reinforcement of the building to support the new housing units.
The Franklin Community Cooperative was awarded $250,000 for structural reinforcement of their portion of the former Wilson’s building where they will be expanding their flagship grocery store.
The Franklin County Community Development Corporation also received a $52,000 award in the FY25 Community One Stop for Growth cycle for its Bridging the Gap in Community Kitchens project to establish a 500 square foot shared-use kitchen within the existing food processing center in Greenfield to support early-stage food entrepreneurs.
