HOLDEN, MA (FRANKLIN COUNTY NOW) — Multiple local fire departments have been assisting in the six acre brush fire in Holden, Mass as part of the Franklin County Wildland Hand Crew including members of the Colrain, Greenfield, Turners Falls, Gill, Wendell, New Salem, Buckland and Erving Fire Departments, as well as the Gardner Fire Department.
The fire was first reported on Wednesday, October 23rd and as of Saturday afternoon, was contained to six acres and two firefighters had sustained minor injuries while combating the flames. Overhaul efforts are expected to continue for the next several days.
