GREENFIELD, MA (FRANKLIN COUNTY NOW) — Several area fire units as part of the Franklin County Wildland Hand Crew responded as mutual aid to the approximately 50 acre wildfire in Monson this weekend including firefighters from Hawley, Colrain, Buckland, and Greenfield.

In addition to the hand crew, a Tanker Task Force was also requested and Sunday morning several Franklin County fire department tankers transported water to the scene.

According to the Monson Fire Department, a firefighter has remained on scene through the night to Monday morning to patrol for flare ups. With the help of mutual aid partners, the fire line increased Sunday from ten feet to 75 feet and crews will return today to continue securing the perimeter.
