NORTHFIELD, MA (FRANKLIN COUNTY NOW) — UPDATE: Three homes were saved in an approximately 7 acre brush fire in Northfield Friday afternoon. The brush fire on South Main Road was caused by a tree falling on power lines and led to a 24-hour plus road closure between Gulf and Old Wendell Roads. Crews from multiple mutual aid agencies contained the brush fire and monitored it into the following day.

A third alarm has been struck for a brush fire that has broke out in Northfield Friday afternoon. Reports came in of the first alarm fire just after 1 p.m. this afternoon with a third alarm being sounded at 1:11 p.m.
