GREENFIELD, MA (FRANKLIN COUNTY NOW) — Greenfield Community College has graduated ten individuals last week in the Greenfield court system who enrolled in the Changing Lives Through Literature program.

By completing the ten-week program participants are now eligible for reduced sentences and research has shown that the program reduces recidivism.

75 probationers have successfully completed the program and many of those graduates have gone on to enroll at GCC.

The program was brought to Franklin County in 2015 with Judge Laurie MacLeod, Judge Mary Lou Rup (retired) and Sheila Moriarty, the Chief Probation Officer in Franklin Superior Court.
