GREENFIELD, MA (FRANKLIN COUNTY NOW) — The Greenfield City Council voted to adopt a minimum residential factor of 1 at Wednesday’s meeting, resulting in an equal Tax Rate for all classes of property for Fiscal Year 2025. The Council also voted against adopting a Residential Exemption and a Small Commercial Exemption.
Chief Assessor Randy Austin said that the tax rate will be going down, although the average resident’s property tax bill will see a slight increase over the previous year.
The Board of Assessors is planning a “Ask the Assessor” night for residents in mid January at the John Zon Community Center before that month’s City Council meeting after property tax bills come out and residents enter a 30 day period to apply for an abatement to contest their property tax bills.
