GREENFIELD, MA (FRANKLIN COUNTY NOW) — The Greenfield Planning Board is recommending to the City Council that the entirety section of the zoning amendment relating to the maximum number of units per building allowed in new multifamily dwellings be struck through, effectively allowing more units per building to increase opportunities for dense housing construction.

Board members also stated that removing the maximum number of units would make new projects more economical for developers. Members of the public gave comment on their concerns regarding big development coming in with these zoning changes.

However, multiple Board members affirmed new projects would still be limited by other factors, one of which the Planning Board is recommending that the Council seek a unit threshold to determine when the Special Permit process should be applied.
