BERNARDSTON, MA (FRANKLIN COUNTY NOW) — A low speed pursuit allegedly involving a stolen vehicle from New Hampshire and a juvenile operator, ended without injury and the subject being taken into custody Monday morning.
According to officials the operator struck a Brattleboro police cruiser, intentionally damaged property in the area of Kringle Candle, and nearby railroad tracks.
Bernardston police reported that the juvenile intentionally struck police cruisers and attempted to hit police officers on their way through Vermont, so due to safety concerns the police utilized stop sticks in Bernardston.
The juvenile was taken into custody for mental health concerns and brought to Baystate Franklin Medical Center for evaluation. Although further information isn’t available at this time due to the age of the operator, officials did say there is no danger to the public and the railroad has been reopened after inspection.
Police from Gill, Bernardston, Brattleboro, Greenfield, and Northfield EMS all worked together to bring the suspect in safely.
