ERVING, MA (FRANKLIN COUNTY NOW) — Members of the Orange Fire Rescue and EMS Department helped an expecting husband and wife who were on their way to the hospital driving on Route 2 in Erving, while the woman was in active labor.

The couple called 911 at approximately 7:10 a.m. when the woman’s water broke and an Orange ambulance met them on the road.

At 7:35 a.m. Saturday morning, the woman gave birth in the ambulance to a healthy baby girl, and EMS were able to pull over to let the father join them and cut the umbilical cord. The family was safely brought to Baystate Franklin Medical Center.
