DEERFIELD, MA (FRANKLIN COUNTY NOW) — Deerfield and state police worked together to stop a 46 year-old man from Windsor, Connecticut who led them on a pursuit after allegedly having stolen a Windsor Fire Department vehicle and attempting to pull people over on I-91 early Saturday morning.
The suspect allegedly stole the fire department vehicle Friday night in addition to several tools, vandalizing property at the department, and setting a fire before leaving. Shortly after, several reports were made of suspicious attempted traffic stops from a Windsor Fire Department vehicle on I-91 in Northampton and Whately.
A Massachusetts State Trooper pulled the vehicle over and then the man fled, leading the Trooper on a chase ending with State and Deerfield Police utilizing stop sticks to end the pursuit.
According to state police, the suspect will face charges in Massachusetts and may face charges in Connecticut as well related to the theft and fire.
